Industrial Exemption for Engineers

As a licensed Engineer that has worked in industry for 40 years, he has seen the changes in industry that have caused the justifications for an exemption to licensure to be no longer valid.

An engineer’s job cannot be taken lightly.  If an engineer makes a mistake, a lot of people could die. The checks that industry had in place 30 years ago ensured that only competent engineers were put in responsible charge.  Now, this is not the case.  Licensure for industry is needed for the same reasons that licensure is needed for consulting to ensure that only competent engineers are put in responsible charge of a project.
